How to Activate POP3 Feature on GMAIL

I will show you step by step to activate pop3 feature on gmail at it’s server, where activation of pop3 feature is a condition in order to your gmail account can be access via e-mail clients like Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express etc and can be access too by mobile phone via pop3 e-mail application installed or built in on it.

Step by step which you have to do to activate POP3 feature as follows:

1. Login to your gmail account at http://mail.google.com/. See the following picture:

When you click Sign in button, you would be directed into your account, here you can check received e-mail (inbox), sent e-mail (Outbox) etc. Then please see to up right corner window, there appear a series of menu. Please click Settings menu located at beside of Old version. See the following picture:

3. After click Settings menu you would be directed to a series of Settings menu as shown at the following picture:

First, please click Forwarding and POP/ IMAP tab. To activate POP3 feature, then you have to determine the settings at POP Download: You can choose “Enable POP for all mail (even mail that’s already been downloaded)” or you can choose “Enable POP from mail that arrives from now on”. If you chosen firstly, all mail exist in inbox would be downloaded into inbox of POP3 e-mail client that you use (ie: Outlook Express), but if you chosen secondly so e-mail that would be downloaded into inbox of POP3 e-mail client is new mail which arrives when POP3 feature already activated.

It’s better that you choose keeps Gmail’s copy in the inbox at the section of When messages accessed with POP: it’s meant in order to have our mail copy on the server though we have downloaded it into inbox of POP3 e-mail client through computer or mobile phone.

At the section of Forwarding: you can determine what do you want. If you wish to forward receiving e-mail on the gmail account, you have to select ”Forward a copy of incoming mail to” and type your another e-mail address for forwarding. It’s better for you to make copy at gmail inbox with select “Keep Gmail’s copy in the inbox”

At the section of IMAP Access: you can determine what do you want. If you wish to your gmail account can be accessed by IMAP e-mail client, you have to activate IMAP access, with select ”Enable IMAP”

If you’ve finished to setup with steps like that, from now on your POP3 feature of gmail already active so it can be accessed via your POP3 e-mail client with computer or mobile phone. Thanks you
